QB trying to prepare for Raiders on Sunday Brad Biggs
Eli Manning is going to give it a go this morning, the New York Giants have announced.
APEli Manning
The quarterback is expected to test out his right foot in practice after sitting out the last two days. Manning has a plantar fascia injury suffered last week at Kansas City.
The Giants have prepared backup David Carr for the possibility that he will start Sunday against the Oakland Raiders in the Meadowlands. The Giants are 16-point favorites in the game. Obviously, with Manning testing out his foot today, it increases the possibility he will play Sunday.
New York carries only Manning and Carr on the 53-man roster. If it is likely Manning will not play, the team will likely promote Rhett Bomar from the practice squad.
Stay tuned.

Given this week's and next week's opponents, Wouldn't the best thing for the Giants to do is treat this like the 4th pre-season game? Let Eli start for two or three series, score some points, and then let Carr have the rest of the game to hand off the ball. This way they can tell how much the injury is bothering Eli, get some expectations of that and practice in for next week against the Saints, and not put the game in Carr's hands from the start. This avoids giving the Raiders hope of an upset when Carr does his usual 3 INTs and getting sacked for -30 yards every time he scrambles, and forcing Eli into the game in the second half under pressure.
