No news expected this week on alleged Hanson attack Brad Biggs
Don’t wait for an announcement on the legal fate of Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable this week, and don’t call back for an update until next Monday. Make it the late afternoon.
That is what a message on a media hotline at the office of Napa County, Calif., district attorney Gary Lieberstein said, according to Bill Williamson of ESPN.com. Lieberstein is the man in charge of reviewing the police investigation into the alleged attack by Cable on ex-Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson at the team training camp facility in Napa on Aug. 5. Lieberstein has had the full investigation for more than a week, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said this morning at the league’s fall meeting in Boston that he was waiting for the wheels of justice to turn in the case before making a decision on how to proceed with the league’s personal conduct policy. He promised that the league would become “very engaged” at some point.
“I’ve made it clear that everyone is held to that personal conduct policy,’’ Goodell said. “We want to make sure the same standard is being held for everybody including coach Cable.’’
Hanson has said that he suffered a broken jaw in the attack, and he turned over medical records to police. Speaking publicly last week for the first time, Hanson told Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports that Cable threatened to kill him during the attack.
“From my blindside, Tom Cable threw me from my chair and into a piece of furniture that a lamp sat upon,” Hanson told Silver. “He was screaming, ‘I’ll f****** kill you! I’ll f****** kill you!’ And I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t have killed me if they hadn’t pulled him away.
“If my head would’ve hit a different way, I might be dead right now.”
Meanwhile, Raiders owner Al Davis has sat back quietly through the entire process. The Raiders (1-4) host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Lieberstein is an elected official who no doubt deals with far more serious criminal matters on a daily basis. The Raiders bring business to Lieberstein's community with training camp every summer.

I know that addressing an issue that vibrates as many strings as the Mr. Cable doing" nothing" is fraught with liability issues because of the history of Mr. Davis's ability to bring whole City's government to their knees. I am simply trying to point out that everything in Raider land is filtered through Mr. Davis's self serving brain. He is addicted to it. So.. the Cable issue will be resolved to best serve Mr. Davis's self-serving brain. That is the part of him that is ageless and predictable.
Why not just say that? He's more of a goalline runner anyway and if Manning is scoring TDs from 10 or more yards out then be happy the offense is clicking so well.

When this story first broke local observers pointed out that Mr. Davis had leverage in Napa due to the money the Raiders brought into the community during training camp. Mr. Davis has always been an iceberg to the public. 90% or more submerged. I suspect that he has been on this from the beginning and has been shaping the outcome to be the best of a bad thing. The best for him is to have Mr. Cable called out the week before the bye. If Mr. Cable Is indicted, Mr. Davis wins by being able to void the remainder of his contract and invest the money in a new sucker (Coach) who will have two weeks to piss off the players." Blow up the building" solves nothing. Blow out the Raider "image" and start over solves everything. Even gang bangers are given the opportunity to change their image. Why not a Football team?
