The Green Bay Packers made it official with offensive tackle Mark Tauscher this morning, signing the veteran for some help on an offensive line that has been beset with problems since the opener.

Tauscher returns as cornerback/returner Will Blackmon heads to injured reserve with a torn ACL. He could compete with Allen Barbre for the starting job soon. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been sacked a league-high 20 times.

“He’s played a ton of football for us,” Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said last week. “He’s played in this scheme from Day 1. Just to have his experience back is definitely an asset.”

The Packers made it clear last week they were re-signing Tauscher, and they might have waited until this week to make it official as they were on a bye last week and didn’t want to pay him for off weekend. Left tackle Chad Clifton is expected to return Sunday from a sprained ankle against Detroit.

Finally, now take a look at John Runyan.

I agree with Brad, how can they not also be talking about John Runyan and even others.

"He could compete with Allen Barbre for the starting job soon."

Correction; he will not compete with Barbre for the starting job. Tauscher will easily take the job with no competition once he's in football shape. Barbre is garbage. He's soft and his mechanics are amature at best. I like Ted Thompson but he has zero ability when it comes to scouting offensive and defensive linemen.
