In a somewhat curious move, the Carolina Panthers have added wide receiver Steve Smith to their injury report as questionable with a rib injury.
Smith was not listed on the injury report previously this week, but popped up today when the team made him a late addition before Sunday’s game at the New York Jets.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Smith tweaked his ribs in Friday’s practice, and he must have showed up with symptoms today.
Smith leads the Panthers in receiving with 45 catches for 599 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensive end Charles Johnson was downgraded from doubtful to out as he didn’t make the trip. He has a pectoral muscle injury.

The new deal locks Celek up through 2016, and the team has now signed 22 players on the current roster to multiple contracts, proof that the Eagles are one of the most pro-active teams in the league when it comes to investing it its own players.
