The St. Louis Rams, who had brought in a slew of wide receivers in recent weeks for tryouts, settled on one today when they signed veteran Tim Carter.
Carter was one of the team’s final cuts at the end of the summer and he hasn’t played in the regular season since 2007 with the Cleveland Browns.
He takes the place of defensive tackle Gary Gibson, who was placed on injured reserve with a broken ankle. Gibson had started the first five games of the season, but the Rams were in the market for a wide receiver with Ruvell Martin uncertain for Sunday’s game at Jacksonville with a hamstring injury.

Why not just say that? He's more of a goalline runner anyway and if Manning is scoring TDs from 10 or more yards out then be happy the offense is clicking so well.
