$4 million roster bonus will help seal his fate Brad Biggs
The start of free agency is 11 days away and it projects to be thin class of talent. It wasn’t going to be a robust group to start with, and the lack of a CBA extension will further dilute the pool.
But some players could get added to the bunch if they are released, and you can add Arizona Cardnals safety Antrel Rolle to that list. The team’s Web site forecasts he will be cut loose soon, maybe this week. When we hear a team Web site predicting a roster move, well, we’re inclined to listen.
The Cardinals owe Rolle a $4 million roster bonus at the start of the new league year, and it turns out they’re not inclined to write that check. Rolle is due to make $12 million this year, and that’s the figure that is even more imposing. The Cardinals drafted him as a cornerback and already have one of the highest-paid safeties in the league in Adrian Wilson. So, Rolle isn’t open to a pay cut and the Cardinals aren’t open to paying him. Someone call the movers.
