Jon Runyan completed his third workout in four days for the Buffalo Bills today and said he is ready to play.
The 35-year-old offensive tackle made stops in Kansas City and Philadelphia before heading to Buffalo where the reeling Bills worked out five other tackles as they scramble following the release of Langston Walker. According to a report by ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, Runyan has not had any contract discussions, but hopes to hear from one of the teams in the next week.
His former team the Eagles is in a tough spot with Shawn Andrews out for Sunday’s game at Carolina with a recurring back issue. Coach Andy Reid could not shed much light on his longterm prognosis after practice. Andrews had surgery last year and missed the final 14 games.
Philadelphia will go with Winston Justice as its starter against the Panthers. He’s not played well when he’s had his chances in the past. Runyan told Paolantonio it will only take him a week of practice to get back in the groove and be ready to play. Runyan has a streak of 192 consecutive starts in regular-season games. he had microfracture surgery on his knee in the offseason.
“I thought I might have some swelling with all the workouts, and all this time sitting on airplanes, but it hasn't happened,” Runyan said. “I haven't had any swelling and no pain. So, that's a good sign.”
