INDIANAPOLIS—Free agency starts at home and the New Orleans Saints drove that point home today when they announced that the club has tendered qualifying offers to 13 restricted free agents.

What level each offer was made at was not revealed. It is a significant step for the Super Bowl champions, who still have much work to do, including figuring out if they can re-sign safety Darren Sharper and linebacker Scott Fujita, the only unrestricted free agents who were starters,

The players tendered include: defensive linemen Remi Ayodele and Anthony Hargrove, offensive tackles Jammal Brown, Jermon Bushrod and Zach Strief, safeties Roman Harper, Chris Reis and Usama Young, linebacker Marvin Mitchell, wide receivers Lance Moore and Courtney Roby, tight end David Thomas and running back Pierre Thomas.

Missing from the group is guard Jahri Evans, a projected restricted free agent the club surely does not want to lose. That could signal the Saints are attempting to sign him to a longterm extension prior to the March 4 deadline to give RFA’s tender offers.
