Walter Jones will not play football this season after the Seattle Seahawks made a decision today that some expected for a few weeks now, placing him on season-ending injured reserve.

But the future Hall of Famer vowed that his playing days are not over.
Jones underwent microfracture knee surgery late last season, had arthroscopic surgery on the same knee in preseason and dealt with back spasms during training camp. The Seahawks waited and waited but couldn’t put off a decision any longer. Their offensive line has been a jumbled mess for much of the season and Jones is far from the only injury the club has dealt with up front.
“My next step is to keep working and try to get back,” Jones said, according to Danny O’Neill of the Seattle Times. “I still want to play this game. I still have the love. I like the competition. I still want to go out there and compete with the guys. That's my No. 1 goal right now is to continue to keep doing what I've got to do to get back on the field for next year.”
As long as Jones is willing to play, and can get healthy, the Seahawks will likely be interested in his services. He turns 36 in January.
