Ryan Clark negotiated with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week to see if he could hammer out a longterm extension but that didn’t happen and the free agent is drawing pretty solid interest early in free agency.
His agent Joel Turner declined to name the teams involved but said six clubs, including the Steelers, are involved at this point. Obviously, Arizona and Chicago would be on a very short list of teams seeking safeties with Miami and the New York Giants also in the market. Washington, where Clark used to play, could also be looking for a safety.
“Everyone is gaga over Antrel Rolle,” Turner said. “Ryan is a better player. He’s got better numbers across the board.”
Turner said they are in no rush to make a deal and are seeking the right fit and the right contract. Clark is considered a savvy veteran and one personnel veteran compared him to Mike Brown from his playing days with the Bears.

I know the Giants are after Antrel Rolle, but if that doesn't work out, Clark would make sense there, too. The Giants need a safety. Clark started his career with the Giants. Bet the Giants wish now they'd have given more time to develop.
Clark had an absolutely horrid year for the Steelers. Constantly going for big hits over being in good position, missing tackles, misreading plays & being too slow to defend anyone deep. Really suffered without Troy there to cover up his weaknesses. Him potentially leaving PGH only bothers me from a depth perspective, won't mind him being out of the starting lineup at all.
Clark thrives when he plays with Troy P. Point blank!!! Also, he'll miss the coaching of one the best secondary and defensive minds in all of football. H.O.F. Dick Labeau. I wish him well because he's a gentleman, as well as a great athelete. Thanks for the memories, Ryan...Good Luck in your future endearvors.
Antrelle Rolle is good, but I don't see why everyone is googoo over him. I'd take Ryan Clark over him all day. Antrelle Rolle was the anchor of the 23rd ranked pass D in the league. Numbers don't lie, and it's not like he was the only solid player in that D backfield. Rogers Cromartie can ball.
Clark lays the lumber, he's a top safety, no doubt.
I am a steeler fan i we need Ryan Clark. He is such a great corner that we need on our defense. Lets get him signed.
They picked up Brian Williams last September after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams was re-signed on Thursday. He is recovering from a torn ACL but should be ready for the start of the season.
Hillis might look good occasionally with the ball in his hands, but his lack of overall toughness without it has to be in question". Hillis blocked for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones while at Arkansas, I think they did ok in college.

Did Joel Turner still did not disclose the name of the team yet?

He's more of a SS IMO even though he plays FS in Pitts, but if he's cheap enough sign him & give Steltz a shot or draft the best FS available 75th overall or w/that 2nd rd. pick they get for Olsen. I want Atogwe myself, but I'll take a hard hitting S.
