The Washington Redskins will turn to Glenn Pakulak as their punter for the second consecutive week.
Pakulak was signed off the practice squad to take the place of veteran Hunter Smith, who will miss Sunday’s game vs. the winless Kansas City Chiefs at FedEx Field with a groin injury. Pakulak had pinch punting duties last week at Carolina. Defensive end Renaldo Wynn was once again cut to make room for Pakulak.
It wasn’t the only move the club announced. Guard Chad Rinehart was a late addition to the injury report. The recently demoted ex-starter was added with a shoulder injury and he is questionable. Washington’s offensive line was a giant question mark entering the season, the result of inactivity by Vinny Cerrato, and it’s fallen to shambles. Left tackle Chris Samuels will not play and there isn’t a timetable for his return after suffering a stinger.
Players rallied for the club to support embattled coach Jim Zorn this week. All the words they use don’t mean a lot. It’s going to come down to how they support him on the field against a Chiefs team that has been competing in recent weeks. The Zorn Watch remains on alert.
