Tony Gonzalez is taking it off, all off, and so is his wife in a promotional appearance for PETA.

The Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl tight end and his wife October bare it all in a soon to be released ad for the the animal rights group as part of its “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur’’ campaign. We’re talking buck naked here with no No. 88 to cover Gonzalez.

“We should be protecting animals, not sacrificing their lives for the sake of fashion or luxury,’’ Tony Gonzalez said. “October and I have changed many of our habits in light of the inhumane treatment of animals that occurs not only in the fur industry but also on factory farms.’’

Gonzalez and his wife also shot a video for PETA during the photo shoot. He went vegan a couple years ago and credits that with staying in top shape in his 13th season in the NFL.

“I think what made us want to pose for PETA, just to bring awareness to people,’’ he said. “Cruelty to animals isn’t something that should be accepted. People, especially kids, look up to us. This is an opportunity to educate not only the youth but people out there that are fans of mine.’’

Hey, nothing like exposing some kids to nudity while raising awareness for the treatment of animals, huh? Sex sells, even for PETA.

Stop being so uptight Brad. It's only in this country that naked bodies are labeled as something negative. This is a great cause with harmless advertising that grab's peoples attention. I"m all for it.

"Hey, nothing like exposing some kids to nudity while raising awareness for the treatment of animals, huh? Sex sells, even for PETA"

Please learn to distinguish nudity from sex. They are NOT equivalent! Sadly this is an all too common distortion that people find difficult to overcome.

There is no evidence that exposing children to non-sexual nudity does any harm whatsoever. However, there is considerable evidence that a prudish 'protection' of them from nudity does do considerable harm. By 'protecting' children from nudity they are lead to believe that there is something shameful about the naked human body - including, therefore, their own!

This body-shame can lead to eating disorders during the vulnerable teenage years. It is also an impediment to conversation with parents about sex due to the embarrassment they will have been taught to feel by then. This means that instead of a healthy discussion with the people best placed to advise their children (parents) many will choose to experiment. The result is obvious - teenage pregnancies and STI's. This is born out by the statistics that show those nations with a more liberal attitude to nudity having much lower rates of teenage pregnancy, abortions and STI's.

Actually Brad, sources close to me indicate that the poor little kids are exposed to their own nudity every time they bathe. How will the little ones ever cope?

Lighten up dude. The "nudity" is hardly shocking - yes they're naked, but they're positioned so you see less skin than you would in a day at the beach. The human body is not evil.

Metrodome vs. the Detroit Lions is unknown. It could be that the Vikings want to slowly work him back into playing shape and wait until next week to play Winfield vs. Seattle.
