Brian Westbrook is expected to return to the starting lineup for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday when they host the Dallas Cowboys in a key NFC East showdown.
This, a week after rookie LeSean McCoy and fullback Leonard Weaver proved to be a formidable 1-2 punch as the Eagles blew out the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.
Westbrook was held out with a concussion suffered against the Washington Redskins on Oct. 26. As he was going to the ground, his head struck the knee of Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, knocking him out briefly. Westbrook has been injury prone at different times in his career, but it was his first concussion.
Coach Andy Reid called Westbrook “good to go’’ and the back practiced today.
“You have to go out there and play worry-free football,’’ Westbrook said when asked if the concussion would be on his mind when he took the field.
