Chicago Bears running back Garrett Wolfe is hospitalized with a lacerated kidney, according to a source.

Wolfe was removed from the first half of Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals with what the team called a back injury, but he urinated blood at halftime and was taken for medical treatment and evaluation. He is expected to remain hospitalized for another day.

The injury is not expected to affect Wolfe longterm, and he could return in about a month. The Bears recently went short at running back on their 45-man gameday roster while Adrian Peterson missed two games with a sprained knee. The club has a roster spot that can be created too as linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa, who is out for the season, has yet to be placed on injured reserve.

The Bears will have to evaluate shoulder injuries suffered by cornerback Charles Tillman and strong safety Al Afalava in the loss. Both were knocked out of the game.
