Longtime standout defensive lineman Bryant Young will now have the opportunity to pass on his knowledge to other players.
The former San Francisco 49er has joined the coaching staff at San Jose State as the line coach, the San Jose Mercury News reported. He turned down a position at Akron where some of the departed members of Charlie Weis’ Notre Dame staff headed. Young played at Notre Dame and was a graduate assistant at the school this past season.
Young was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and finished his career with 89 ½ sacks, a tremendous achievement for an interior lineman. He spent his entire career with the 49ers.
