The Buffalo Bills have claimed tight end Michael Matthews off waivers from the Detroit Lions, the team announced.
Matthews has played in 39 games with 10 starts.
He has registered eight passes for 54 yards.
The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder is a former undrafted free agent from Georgia Tech who was with the New York Giants before he was traded to the New England Patriots last year.
He was cut by New England in October and signed by the Lions late last season.
