As Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to find new ways to put people in the seats at his brand-new stadium (JerryWorld is hosting the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight this Saturday. Pacquiao is -800, by the way), Yankees owner George Steinbrenner is doing his best to keep pace at his new facility.

ESPN recently announced that a new bowl game known as the “Pinstripe Bowl” will be held at the new Yankee Stadium starting this year.

The game will feature the No. 3 team from the Big East taking on the No. 6 team from the Big 12 (not including BCS participants) and will be played on December 30.

In addition to the Pinstripe Bowl, Yankee Stadium will also be hosting the November 20 showdown between Army and Notre Dame.

ESPN has the television rights for the Pinstripe Bowl for the next six years. During that time, the game will be played no earlier than Christmas and no later than New Year’s Day.

The Pinstripe Bowl will be a welcomed addition to the annual Bowl Pool I participate in each year. Since I barely hit at a 50% clip as is, adding another game will likely amount to yet another “L” in the loss column.

This is great, because the 6th place team from every conference should get a bowl game to play in. What a waste of space.

With over half the Div I teams going to Bowl games, it just makes every one of them except for the Championship game a huge pile of dog droppings!

East teams should take note. Giants already added Sorgi and Philly has three there. Would Shanny add this guy and save draft picks for other dynamic players? Mike always mentions the fact that big arms are needed to play in places like New York.
