Cornerback Brandon Browner is heading from a Super Bowl champ to a perennial contender.

Browner agreed to a three-year deal with the Patriots on Friday, according to an ESPN report. He chose the Patriots over the Redskins, Saints and Raiders.

Browner will sit out the first four games of the 2014 season due to an agreement with the NFL, which stems from an indefinite suspension the NFL levied on him for violating the substance-abuse policy.

However, the NFL decided to compromise with Browner once he threatened to sue the league for wrongfully being in a certain stage of the NFL's drug testing program.

Browner only played in eight games a season ago and didn't participate with the Seahawks in the playoffs. After his four-game suspension, he'll join Darrelle Revis in the Patriots' defensive backfield.
