The Super Bowl was two days ago so why not fire up talk about whether or not the New York Giants can repeat as world champions?

Brandon Jacobs thinks so. But to do it he says the club needs to keep the gang together.

Oh man, I really want them to keep this team together, to do what they’ve got to do to make ends meet,” Jacobs said, according to ESPN New York. “It’s a great football team, man. This football team could do this again. I honestly believe that. If we stick together, there's no reason why we can’t do this again.”

Of course, Jacobs wants to keep the group together. The veteran running back has one of the more tricky salary situations were for the club to consider. He has a base salary of $4.9 million in 2012 and a roster bonus due next month that is worth $500,000. Do the Gianbts really want to pay a part-time running back $5.4 million? The guess here is no, but perhaps a little restructuring could happen.

Jacobs has had a terrific run with the Giants but seems regularly upset at something or someone. Logic would dictate the team cannot make that kind of financial commitment to him.

“I don’t think my situation is up in the air,” Jacobs said. “If this team wants me back here, they know what they have to do to get it done. This is where I want to be.”

Wide receiver Mario Manningham, cornerback Aaron Ross and right tackle Kareem McKenzie are also free agents.

Likely have to put a better regular season together next year. as the Saints and Packers have shown, its tough to keep the same edge and they are likely to lose key people

However, the other 10 starters on the Giants offense don't think they have a chance. Come on, is this really a story? What's the guy supposed to say?
