Breaking down Brent Grimes' $32 million contract

The Miami Dolphins were able to lock up cornerback Brent Grimes for the next four years with a contract valued at $32 million.

The contract states that $16 million will be guaranteed, which included a $6 million signing bonus.

In 2014, Grimes will earn a base salary of $2.475 million and carry a cap figure of $4 million. Included in this is a $25,000 reporting bonus. His base salary is guaranteed.

In 2015, Grimes' base salary increases to $8.475 million and a cap figure of $10 million. He's also slated for a $25,000 reporting bonus with his base salary guaranteed.

In 2016, Grimes' base salary will be $7.975 million and he'll have a cap figure of $9.525 million. His base salary for this season isn't guaranteed. The $25,000 reporting bonus is also present for this year of the deal.

In 2017, Grimes is slated to earn a base salary of $6.975 million and carry a cap number of $8.5 million. A $25,000 reporting bonus is written in for this season, too, with his base salary not guaranteed.
