It will be the Joe Webb show on Monday night for the Minnesota Vikings.
The rookie gets the call over veteran journeyman Patrick Ramsey, who was signed on Wednesday and practiced for the first time with the team on Thursday.
Brett Favre was ruled out for the game. He tried to see if he could practice today before the Vikings got going, but could not, ending the hope interim coach Leslie Frazier had of Favre returning from the sprained SC joint in his right shoulder.
That means Webb, a sixth-round draft pick who was chosen as a wide receiver, should make his first NFL start. Webb was worked as the third quarterback for the majority of the season but after coach Brad Childress was fired, he temporarily went back to wide receiver.
Running back Adrian Peterson (knee, ankle) did practice today after sitting out the last two days, raising hope he will be available. Guard Steve Hutchinson (thumb) is unlikely to play.
