Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre helped coach Oak Grove High School to the Mississippi Class 6A state fotoabll championship Friday night.

The former Super Bowl winner and three-time NFL Most Valuable Player is the offensive coordinator at Oak Grove, which won its first state title with a 14-7 win over Tupelo.

“I can't say it's like a Super Bowl, but it's pretty close,” Favre told the Associated Press. “It really is. It's a different type of feeling, but I couldn't be more proud of these guys. It's been a lot of fun.”

The go-ahead score in the third quarter came on a fake field goal.

No, it wasn't Favre's call.

“That was all the special teams' coach,” Favre said. “I don't call trick plays.”
