Linebacker gets roughing the passer penalty for second straight week. Terry McCormick
Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays will likely get fined by the NFL for his ugly hit on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in Sunday's loss.
But Mays said he doesn't want people to think he is a dirty player, even though he also was fined $7,875 last week for roughing Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.
"I play fast," Mays said. "I don't want people to think I'm a dirty player or a headhunter or anything like that."
Schaub later returned to finish the game, but afterwards, Mays made a point to apologize to him for the hit, which he said was not intentional.
