Linebacker plans to appeal ban for hit on Texans' Schaub. Terry McCormick
Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays has received a one-game suspension for his vicious hit on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in Sunday's game, according to ESPN.com.
Schaub amazingly missed only one play on the hit, but Mays is out for the helmet-to-helmet blow, even though he apologized to Schaub after the game.
Mays says he plans to appeal the suspension, according to the report.
Mays perhaps got the stiff penalty in part because he was a repeat offender two weeks a row. He was fined for a roughing the passer penalty against Atlanta's Matt Ryan last week.
