The Denver Broncos have cut veteran running back Justin Fargas and placed cornerback Tony Carter on waivers with an injured designation.
Fargas was signed by Denver as a free agent on Aug. 11 while Carter joined the team this spring as an undrafted free agent.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Oakland Raiders where he rushed for 3,369 yards on 827 carries with 10 touchdowns. He also registered 77 receptions for 523 yards.
He was drafted by the Raiders in the third round (96th overall) of the 2003 NFL draft out of USC.
He played three seasons for the University of Michigan before transferring to USC for his senior season. He gained 1,077 yards on 257 carries with eight touchdowns in three seasons with the Wolverines and also saw time at safety.
Fargas was a second-team Pacific-10 Conference selection as a senior for the Trojans in 2002, as he rushed for 715 yards with eight touchdowns to go along with eight receptions for 101 yards.
