The Denver Broncos signed third-round center J.D. Walton to a $2.58 million contract and waived rookie defensive lineman Jaron Baston and fullback Kyle Eckel.
Walton received a four-year deal with the standard base salaries of $320,000, $405,000, $490,000 and $575,000 as well as a signing bonus of $798,500, according to a league source.
The total base value of the deal can be boosted by a fourth-year escalator clause.
Eckel was waived with an injury designation. If he clears waivers, he could go to their reserve-injured list.
Walton was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy as the nation's best center and earned first-team All-America status as a senior, becoming the first Baylor offensive or defensive player to do so in 18 years.
A three-year starter at center for the Bears, he allowed just three sacks in 721 pass plays during his final two seasons.
