The Denver Broncos are counting heavily on cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, especially with veteran Champ Bailey dealing with a left foot injury.

Rodgers-Cromartie wasn't a hit last season with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, he's in a contract year with the Broncos after signing a one-year deal.

"You've got to understand it's a business, and they give you that to put the pressure on you, so it's up to you to go out there and play," Rodgers-Cromartie told the Denver Post. "So, there's a lot of focus that must be put into the season."

So far, the Broncos are happy with their investment.

"We've been pleased with him thus far," Broncos coach John Fox said.

"First of all, maybe there was a little message sent out on his part," retired NFL safety John Lynch said. "People like myself were critical of him last year because he wasn't really physical, and a lot was going on in Philly, but from Day One, he's shown (physicality).

"He came up and popped someone last week and there was a little extra on it. I think they've done a great job of demanding that out of him. You've got a rare size-speed-athleticism combo, and in camp he's been phenomenal."
