Browns, Thomas agree to $84M deal

Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas might not qualify as an “elite playmaker” since he plays on the offensive line, but he is being rewarded like one, agreeing to an $84 million extension over seven years.

A source told NFP's Andrew Brandt that the contract will pay Thomas $42 million over the first three years of the contract, a market-setting number for offensive linemen. Of that, $36 million is guaranteed.

The deal puts Thomas, a four-time Pro Bowl pick and a two-time All-Pro, in the same category as Julius Peppers and Larry Fitzgerald when it comes to the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterbacks.
