Quarterback acquired for conditional 2011 draft pick Aaron Wilson
The Cleveland Browns made it official, announcing their previously reported traded for quarterback Seneca Wallace from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a conditional 2011 draft pick that will either be a seventh-round pick or a sixth-round pick.
“We are fortunate that we were able to acquire someone with Seneca’s experience at such a key position,” Browns general manager Tom Heckert said in a statement. “In watching him in person and on tape, the things which stand out are his strong arm and outstanding athleticism, and that will allow us do a lot of things with him while he is on the field. He played well in limited opportunities while he was with Seattle and we expect him to come in here and compete.”
Wallace has said he believes he's coming to Cleveland for an opportunity to be a starter under team president Mike Holmgren, who coached him in Seattle.
“I want to thank the Seattle Seahawks organization for a tremendous seven seasons,” Wallace said in a statement. “They gave me my start in the NFL and I will always be grateful for that. I’m looking forward to this new opportunity with the Cleveland Browns and I am excited to be back with Coach Holmgren. With him here, as well as many of the other people they have in place, I believe this franchise is headed in the right direction."
