The Cleveland Browns anticipate at least an eight-game suspension for troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Gordon completed his appeal hearing Monday. Should he win the appeal, which could take one to three weeks to be determined, he wouldn't be suspended at all.
A potential compromise could be reached, too, via a settlement.
It's a long shot, with Gordon basing his case on inhaling second-hand smoke.
Gordon's lawyers are saying he has tested negative 70 times and barely tested positive for marijuana this time.
"As frustrating as it is for Josh, I think he's handled it well,'' said coach Mike Pettine. "He's been practicing hard, giving good effort, finishing plays. Assuming if we don't hear anything, then he'll be out there Saturday."
