The Cleveland Browns have placed the franchise tag on veteran kicker Phil Dawson, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported via Mary Kay Cabot's Twitter feed.
Dawson will make $3.8 million under the franchise tag this season after making $3.25 million being tagged last season.
The veteran kicker is the longest tenured Browns player, the lone remaining player from when the franchise re-entered the league in 1999 as an expansion team.
