The Cleveland Browns got a receiver with ties to Baylor after all, grabbing Josh Gordon in the second round of Thursday's supplemental draft.
Cleveland had coveted Kendall Wright in the first round of the regular April draft, but lost out when the Tennessee Titans chose the Baylor star with the 20th pick. The Browns then chose quarterback Brandon Weeden at No. 22.
Gordon was kicked off the Baylor team because of a failed drug test. He had enrolled at Utah, but never played there, electing to go to the NFL after sitting out his transfer year under NCAA rules.
The 6-4 receiver could help upgrade a Browns receiving corps that was sorely lacking in playmakers a year ago, and could give Weeden a nice target to grow and develop with.
As a result of the pick, Cleveland will forfeit its second-round pick in 2013.
