Browns sign Coye Francies, cut Eric King

Eric Bakhtiari signed to practice squad Aaron Wilson

The Cleveland Browns signed cornerback Coye Francies to the active roster from their practice squad, cutting cornerback Eric King.

The team also signed linebacker Eric Bakhtiari to the practice squad.

Francies has spent the past two weeks on the Browns’ practice squad after being signed on Dec. 1.

Originally drafted by Cleveland in the sixth round (191st) of las year's draft, Francies appeared in six games and recorded two tackles, one pass defensed and two special teams tackles in a reserve role during his rookie season.

He was waived by the Browns on Sept. 3, 2010 and spent the UFL season with the Las Vegas Locomotives, helping them capture the league championship. He saw action in eight games, recording 11.5 tackles and two interceptions.

Originally signed by San Diego as an undrafted free agent in 2008, Bakhtiari spent time on the practice squads of the Chargers, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Tennessee during the past two seasons.

He was signed to the Titans’ active roster on Dec. 12, 2009, where he saw action in three games and was inactive for another. In three contests, he recorded six tackles on special teams.

Bakhtiari was waived by the Titans on September 4, 2010 and has subsequently spent time on the practice squads of the 49ers, Dolphins and Chiefs this season. He was waived by Kansas City on Dec. 3.

A four-year letterman at the University of San Diego, Bakhtiari registered 236 tackles, 35 sacks and six forced fumbles during his collegiate career. As a senior, he led the FCS with 20 sacks. Born on December 2, 1984, the 6-3, 250-pound Bakhtiari is a native of San Mateo, Calif.
