The Cleveland Browns have signed former Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl kicker Billy Cundiff to a one-year, $840,000 contract, the veteran minimum.

Cundiff, 33, was auditioned today as well as Giorgio Tavecchio.

Cundiff was last with the New York Jets.

He takes the place of Browns all-time leading scorer Phil Dawson.

Cundiff once kicked a game-winning field goal for the Browns in 2009 during an stint for an injured Dawson.

Cundiff hit 26 of 29 field goals for the Ravens during the 2011 season and led the NFL with 40 touchbacks, but missed a potential game-tying field goal in the AFC championship game against the New England Patriots.

He spent time last season with the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers after the Ravens cut him when he was beaten out by rookie Justin Tucker.

The Browns have placed starting offensive guard Jason Pinkston on injured reserve-designated to return.

Pinkston has been sidelined with an injured ankle. He's eligible to return to the active roster by a Nov. 3 game against the Ravens.
