The Cleveland Browns  signed running back Edwin Baker off the Houston Texans' practice squad of the Houston Texans, cutting quarterback Caleb Hanie.

The Browns re-signed linebacker Justin Staples to the practice squad and released linebacker Jonathan Stewart from the practice squad.

Baker is a former San Diego Chargers seventh-round draft pick, who's spent time on their practice squad as well as the Denver Broncos and Texans' practice squads.

At Michigan State, Baker became the sixth sophomore in school history to rush for 1,000 yards.
