On the wrong end of both a prank call and a lucrative quarterback contract that went south in a hurry, Day 1 of the 2013 free agency period is something the Buffalo Bills would probably like to forget as soon as possible.
So less than 24 hours after losing a rock solid offensive lineman in guard Andy Levitre to free agency, the Bills jumped into the pool and signed linebacker Manny Lawson.
“The last 24 hours have been a blast,” Lawson told Chris Brown of Buffalo Bills.com. “Just talking to the guys and getting a feel for the organization. I’m happy to be here and I expect a lot of things. I think we’re going to have a lot of fun. I think we’re going to put a show on for the fans out here in Buffalo. I’m just ready to kick the season off.”
Lawson spent the first five seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before joining the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The 28-year-old recorded a career-high 67 tackles and 6.5 sacks with the Niners in 2009, but started just ten games for the Bengals last season.
Terms of the agreement have not yet been released.
