CJ2K reaches out to family of shooting victim

There have been times in his NFL career that Chris Johnson has been accused of being a selfish player.

But this week in the wake of the school shooting tragedy in Connecticut, CJ2K has proven to be as selfless and deeply touched as any player in the league with his actions toward wanting to help.

First, Johnson wrote the names of all 27 victims of the shooting on his cleats before the Titans' Monday night win over the New York Jets.

Now, CJ has made a personal connection with the family of victim Grace McDonnell, speaking by telephone with her brother Jack and sending gifts to the family to help console and uplift them.

“You get a whole sense of it. He's trying to be strong, but I can tell how he feels,” Johnson said of Jack McDonnell, according to TitanInsider. “I lost my grandmother earlier this year, and knowing how that feels, I just wanted to kind of do something to help lift their spirits.”

Johnson has taken his share of criticism at times, but there is no denying his actions are heartfelt and sincere. And while nothing can change the hurt the victims are suffering from, Johnson is doing his part to lift those families up. Bravo, CJ2K.
