The Arizona Cardinals released veteran kicker Dan Carpenter, ending his brief competition with veteran Jay Feely.

Carpenter had a 26-yard field goal attempt blocked Saturday against the San Diego Chargers.

The Cardinals also placed linebacker Dan Giordano on the reserve-physically unable to perform list and cut offensive tackle Joe Caprioglio, receiver Jarett Dillard (injury settlement), receiver Nick Edwards, center Deveric Gallington, defensive end Cordian Hagans, linebacker Korey Jones, defensive tackle Jonathan Mathis, quarterback Caleb TerBush, and cornerback Ronnie Yell.

The Cardinals are down to 76 players, one shy of the NFL limit of 75 players teams must get down to by Tuesday afternoon.
