The Arizona Cardinals got the biggest piece of business they needed to accomplish this offseason done.

The team has reached a contract agreement with defensive end Calais Campbell, meaning he will not play the 2012 season under the franchise tag. The five-year contract will create considerable salary-cap relief for the organization because his number will be considerably lower than the $10.7 million it would have been under the cap.

This move will allow the Cardinals to make other moves without being pressed right against the cap. It also locks up a key defensive player in his prime, something the club has struggled to do in the past when you consider linebacker Karlos Dansby.

The 25-year-old Campbell had 72 tackles and eight sacks last season. He was a second-round selection in 2008.
