2-time All-Pro is seeking big bucks from Saints Brad Biggs
The most important business for the New Orleans Saints in the next three weeks is getting a contract done with quarterback Drew Brees.
After Brees, the Saints have a host of free agents they need to work to sign, the most significant being All-Pro guard Carl Nicks.
No problem says Nicks. Just pay him more than the blockbuster deal teammate Jahri Evans got two years ago. Evans received a $56.7 million, seven-year contract and Nicks, in a visit on Sirius XM NFL Radio said he expects a bigger and better contract, according to host Jim Miller.
Evans doesn’t want to wear the franchise tag and the deadline for those to be applied is March 5. The Saints also have to consider how they want to approach wide receiver Marques Colston and cornerback Tracy Porter, other players set to become unrestricted free agents.
We’ll see if Nicks gets the cash haul he is seeking.
