By most accounts, University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's overhauled throwing mechanics displayed during his Pro Day workout helped his cause with the NFL brass.
Although privately many NFL people indicate that Tebow hasn't quite allayed all concerns about whether those fundamentals will hold up in an actual game, publicly one member of the NFL's fraternity of starting quarterbacks quite bluntly dismissed Tebow's prospects.
Consider Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne not impressed by Tebow.
"My judgment is that he's not an NFL quarterback," Henne said during a WQAM radio interview. "I'll leave it at that."
Unlike many others who have an interest in promoting Tebow and helping his draft stock, no such motivation exists obviously for Henne.
Or maybe he's just getting tired or hearing about Tebow or he's jealous of Tebow getting all of the attention.

I think Chad Henne should just keep his mouth closed. The guy has been a pro for about 5 minutes and hasn't accomplished a thing. What if a REAL QB...say Brett Favre or Drew Brees said:
"I'm not very impressed with Chad Henne; I'll leave it at that."
Shut up Chad....
Florenzo raises a good point. Is it possible the right-wing media machine has an interest in promoting Tebow? Seems to me those with far-right religious views would love to see Tebow in a position of prominence. Hey Rush?
So Chad Henne thinks Tebow is not an NFL QB. Are we sure he is not talking about himself. He is another in a long line of Michigan QBs that thought they could play in the NFL. If my memory serve me correctly I think there is only one-Tom Brady. So Henne just go back to the beach and shutup.
henne will do more in the nfl then tebow will ever do.

Suddenly it's just wrong to want to see a guy succeed because you admire him? That makes you part of some evil far right religious kook conspiracy? No doubt Rush Limbaugh had that in mind when he tried to buy the Rams.
There are questions about Tebow's future, just as there are about any college QB. What is not questionable is that he produced pretty astounding numbers at the combine, that many consider him the greatest college player of all time and that it is hihgly unlikely he will be involved in any strip club murders, have 7 illegitimate children by 5 different women or run over a guy after a night of partying. He also has far too much class to run down a fellow player.
Thankfully the JETS already have a QB and I don't have to worry about seeing Tebow in green, the guy has a way of making many fine people want to puke. It's a shame you can't even tune in to see football and football shows anymore with out getting peoples religious and political views or whatever thrown in your face. It would be great to just be able to tune in and get (you know) FOOTBALL. I'm sure the far right will be just as caring and nurturing when a Muslim QB enters the draft praising Allah and throwing all his beliefs in peoples faces. I really just miss the days of tuning in and getting just football. People like Tebow don't give a crap though, they think it's their duty to throw there belief systems in your face whether you like it or not.
A lot of people have a lot of agendas with Tebow. But part of the hype is totally justified: he was arguably the best college player to ever play the game. Hence, the interest in if he can take it to the next level at his position. That is not debatable.
As to Henne's response, we don't know the background, if it was offered freely, if he was pressured into a response. On its face, its the view of many. And we don't know if it was offered in the spirit of a positive or a negative, as in, he's got some work to do or forget it, he'll never make it. But on its face, I have no problem with it. This is America, right? Free speech and all that?
To those who say Michigan doesn't turn out good QBs I say you are talking out of your ass. And that pains me, because I bleed scarlet and gray. Aside from Tom Brady, the school has turned out Jim Harbaugh, Elvis Grbec, Brien Griese and Chad Henne, all of whom have started and had some level of success in the NFL. Harbaugh took the Colts to the AFC championship game and Grbac tooks the Chiefs to several playoffs. Griese is still valued as backup and Henne has a promising career. We all know about Brady.
The level of hype may be a bit maddening, but the fact that there hype is totally understandable. And remember, no one is making you read any of this or listen to any of it or watch any of it. Exercise some choice. As John Lennon said "you better free your mind instead."
I think that if Tebow ever starts at QB in the NFL and plays whoever has Chad Henne at QB, he's got his first piece of locker room wall material. I'm not a huge Tebow fan, but I kinda like the idea of him scoring a whole bunch of touchdowns, running down the other team's bench, and yelling out to Henne, "Chad! Impressed yet?"
The right wing media machine? what in the world is that? Just cuz you guys can't think of anything other than politics; don't bore the rest of us with it.
The vast right wing conspiracy to see a QB succeed? It's tentacles reaching deep into the bowels of ESPN blogs; and MMQB?
FYI the overwhelming majority of sports writers...and it is an overwhelming majority...are a liberal group. A left leaning group.
How about he's just a charismatic young guy, that people like, and it's an interesting story in an otherwise sterile environment.
A right wing Christian conspiracy...oh man I'm going to be sick.
I don't know if there's a right-wing conspiracy trying to get Tebow drafted or whatever.
But it's pretty hard to argue with facts:
1. The anti-choice Tebow ad was broadcast during the Super Bowl (although, to be honest, I didn't quite understand it, or what its point was)
2. The pro-choice ad was repeatedly refused by the network.
I can't tell you about conspiracies, but to deny the clear double standard -- that the mainstream media is much more concerned about offending anti-choice (and generally religious) groups than pro-choice groups -- is to deny pretty clear historical fact.
Back to football...
Chad who? Who cares?
jvill
With all due respect I wouldn't call that a "double standard" and it's certainly not clear at all. It's clear to you because of your own prejudice, but someone without a dog in the fight would see no boogie man. A lot of people find abortion upsetting, some people find it very upsetting, so why would a network run an ad that upsets people during an entertainment event? For what purpose?
It's not a double standard it's just good business. They took the smart road not the biased road.
The mainstream media in this country revels in portraying Christians as simple minded buffoons and it's easy to see if you take a look at it.
You guys are, IMO, displaying your own anti Christian bias by seeing things that aren't there.
WHAT A SAD, SAD SOCIETY WE HAVE BECOME. ARE YOU GUYS EVEN ALIVE, OR ARE YOU JUST BRAIN DEAD?
Yes, I hate it when an athelete actually speaks his mind. They should never EVER give their honest opinion especially when it doesnt fit my agenda. I would much prefer them to always give the “p.c” answer just so they dont offend anyone. I mean thats just the way all the sheep behave now isnt it?
You morons have become brainwashed by society. What happened to the days when a person could actually answer a question? Instead you pathetic sheep have become so numb to reality that when a guy like Henne really says what he thinks and you may or may not agree you call him an idiot. Who is the real idiot? Yes I would much prefer some annoying god squader smiling and blowing smoke up my azz on my team than a real person. Look brain surgeons, this aint church this is football okay?
When you go to post a comment, there's the word "Name", and a space allowing you to fill in how you'd like to be identified: You chose "pathetic sheep" for yourself.
Your comment included 5 or 6 well worn cliches, and not one original thought.
We'll give you points for aggressiveness, and points for picking a self descriptive name, but your thoughts aren't original. More sheep like than anything.
C'mon big guy give us a bahaaaaaaaaaaaa I know you can do it. Probably better than most.
It seems you're saying that Henne is okay with you cuz "he speaks his mind"
The rest of us are poh simple folk
nobody here held back on their comments to Henne, not holding back on his comments.
How does that make him a crusader and us sheep?
Who gives a shit about his politics or religious views. It's all about football!!!!!!!!! Either love him for his heart , passion, ability or hate him for the lack of it, but there's nothing wrong with his personality. He's humble, articulate, all his teammates seem to be enjoying him( Champ Bailey) People hate him for reasons that have nothing to do with fuckin football. Dude can play and I guarantee he wins more championships then that perv(who no one seems to hate) Rothlesbugar. Our society is twisted. All the ridicule this guys taken is redickless. I can't wait for him to get his hall of fame career started. To all the haters keep haten it probably only adds a little fuel to his fire. GOOOOOOOO!! TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBOW!!!!!

I am more and more conviced that Tebow's support has to do with his religious and political views. I had the same feeling with Brady Quinn. Both hard workers and not without talent, but more hype and buzz than anything else, judging from my information. How can a guy perfect his mechanics in a month? And then be ready for the world's most demanding sport league at the most demanding position? It just does not add up.
