San Diego Chargers safety Kevin Ellison is in trouble with the law.

The second-year defensive back was arrested Monday in Redondo Beach, Calif., on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

According to police, 100 pills of Vicodin were found in his car after he was stopped for speeding in a school zone near his former high school.

Sgt. Peter Grimm indicated to the Associated Press that Ellison didn't have a prescription for the pills.

Grimm said that amount is considered to be "unusually large" for a pharmacist to give out.

Ellison, who started nine games as a rookie for San Diego last season after being drafted out of USC, is free on $10,000 bail.
