Veteran quarterback comes aboard after Whitehurst injury. Terry McCormick
The San Diego Chargers announced Friday that they have signed veteran backup quarterback Kyle Boller.
Boller comes to the team one day after backup Charlie Whitehurst suffered a knee injury. Early estimations and reports indicated Whitehurst could miss at least two to three weeks of time.
Boller, a former first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens, spent last season as a backup for the Oakland Raiders. He had worked out for the Tennessee Titans earlier this week.
The Chargers opted to go with Boller over Billy Volek, their own backup for the past six seasons, whom they released in March.
