The San Diego Chargers cut cornerback Brandon Hughes, a former fifth-round draft pick.

Hughes' release creates a roster spot for quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan.

The Chargers cut center-guard Jeff Hansen and quarterback Jonathan Crompton from the practice squad.

And the Chargers re-signed offensive tackle Ryan Otterson and tight end Kory Sperry. Otterson originally was placed on the final 53-man roster on Saturday, but was waived a day later to make room for tackle Adam Terry.

A former undrafted free agent, Sperry spent time in training camp with San Diego last year and played in eight games for the Miami Dolphins last season. He went to training camp with Denver this year.
