Mouton is a former second-round draft pick.
He played in just three games in the past three seasons.
Mouton missed the entire 2011 (shoulder) and 2013 (knee) seasons due to serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the Chargers placed offensive lineman Jeromey Clary on the physically unable to perform list.
Clary is recovering from offseason hip surgery.
