The San Diego Chargers have finalized their trade of quarterback Charlie Whitehurst to the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced

San Diego and Seattle swapped second-round choices in this year’s draft, with the Chargers moving up 20 slots in the process, getting the 40th overall choice while giving up the 60th choice. In addition, San Diego receives an undisclosed 2011 draft choice from Seattle, which is reportedly their third-round draft pick.

The 6-4, 220-pound Whitehurst is entering his fifth NFL season.

He has played in only two regular-season games during his career and has yet to throw a pass in a regular-season contest. He did however score a rushing touchdown on a 14-yard run against Tennessee in Sept. 2006.

Whitehurst’s father, David, is also a former NFL quarterback. He played for Green Bay from 1976-83.

The trade leaves Philip Rivers and Billy Volek as the two remaining quarterbacks on the Chargers’ roster.

The Seahawks have agreed to terms with Whitehurst on a two-year, $10 million contract and envision him as a future successor to Matt Hasselbeck.
