Cornerback, now with the Jets, clashed with teammates, coaches in San Diego Aaron Wilson
The San Diego Chargers don't miss cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who was traded to the New York Jets this offseason.
Cromartie clashed with teammates and coaches last season.
Now that he's gone, the Chargers' secondary is a happier bunch.
“You don’t have the animosity between players, between player and coach,” safety Eric Weddle told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “We come out each day and we’re working hard, we’re competing and we all want to get better, and we’re all listening to our coach.
"There is no second-guessing. Coach says something, it applies to everyone. We’re all at the same level. We’re all holding each other to the same level. .. Me and Cro had conflicts. That’s just the way it is.”
Extremely talented, Cromartie's aversion to contact eventually wore on the team.
Per the report, they got tired of the drama, too.
“We all know there were guys in the locker room who didn't like him,” said cornerback Quentin Jammer, who was Cromartie's closest friend in the locker room. “He didn't like them. We don't have to deal with that now. ..
“It’s easier for me now. I tried my best to put out fires, tried to keep the room intact, but it was too much.”
And just like running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who's also with the Jets now, Cromartie becomes the latest former Charger to get thrown under the bus by his former teammates.
And just as the Chargers are glad that Tomlinson and Cromartie are out of their locker room, Tomlinson and Cromartie are undoubtedly much happier to be playing for the Jets.
