Two fired coaches from 2012 on San Diego's radar. Terry McCormick
New San Diego Chargers general manager Tom Telesco, a first-time GM, is looking at a couple of recycled coaches as he readies to make his first hire.
According to USA Today, the Chargers will interview former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith and former Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt for their vacancy. Both coaches were fired when the 2012 regular season ended.
Both Smith and Whisenhunt have made the rounds, interviewing with a handful of teams since their respective dismissals, but neither has landed a new gig just yet. In fact, the only head coach fired at the end of the season to land a new head coaching job thus far is Andy Reid, who went from Philadelphia to Kansas City. It will be interesting to see if either Smith or Whisenhunt winds up joining him in the AFC West.
NFL.com also reported that the Chargers interviewed Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
