Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

Tillman was a finalist last year. He beat out Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely and Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis for an award based on community service and on-field accomplishments.

Tillman is the fifth Bears player to win the award, which is named after the late Payton, who won it in 1977.

Tillman founded the Cornerstone Foundation nine years ago, which has raised over $1 million to help children in the Chicago region.

Tillman got $25,000 donated to his charity from the NFL for winning the award as well as $1,000 for being the Bears' nominee.

The NFL Foundation donated $25,000 to Tillman’s efforts for winning on top of the $1,000 his foundation received for his being the Bears’ nominee for the award.
