Now there is talk of Alex Brown being traded or cut. This surprises me since the Bears have already lost Gains Adams and won't be bringing back Ogunleye (sp?). I guess Idonoje (?) moving to DE is costing Brown his job. They are probably moving Idon. outside partly to make room for their young DT's to get more playing time. I suppose this means that Jaron Gilbert will be activated on game days in the coming year. If Brown is gone, another big reason will likely be his $5MM/yr contract. The Bears aren't on as big of a spending spree as it might have seemed when free-agency started. Getting rid of guys like Vasher and Brown will pay part of the salaries of Peppers, Manu., and Taylor. Although, ownership's net commitment of net new money to the team will still be very significant.

Hopefully w/the Bears set to be THE most aggressive team in FA this puts the Bears are cheap argument to rest for good. Do they make bad decisions & spend poorly? Yes! But they do spend & have spent as they are at the top of all spenders in the league. But like everyone else I am worried about how well they spend.

My sympathies go out to you and Gaines Adams' family. It's never good to see a rival have this come up to put back a player or a team.

Our managment has proven beyond doubt that they don't know how to draft, nor pick up quality players in free agency. Our coaching staff has yet to demonstrate the ability to nuture talent and to coach players. Our sideline originization is a joke. They have ruined one of the greatest sports franchises in history.

With all the money the Bears are going to save by not having to pay any high-round picks next year, they should invest HEAVILY in coaching- including eating the rest of Lovie's contract. Imagine what kind of running back Shanahan could make Forte into.

Lovie Smith & Co. have somehow managed to make the Bears depressingly mediocre...granted, we aren't the Browns or the Raiders, but we can in no way shape or form be mistaken for the once-feared Monsters of the Midway. We haven't played with any fervor since 2006.
